When to choose PassTip
Choose PassTip when you want a free, no-account generator with WiFi QR cards, bulk CSV, and optional HIBP checks — all in the browser as a PWA.
- You need guest WiFi QR cards or printable network cards
- You want offline generation after installing the PWA
- You are provisioning many unique passwords as CSV without creating vault accounts
- You prefer an open, inspectable client-side tool alongside (not instead of) a manager
When to choose a password manager
Use Bitwarden, 1Password, LastPass, Dashlane, or similar when you need storage, sync, autofill, and shared access — not only generation.
Best for families
Managers with shared vaults or family plans beat a generator-only tool for handing off logins securely.
Best for teams
Org vaults, roles, and audit trails live in manager products. PassTip’s bulk CSV helps provisioning; it does not replace access control.
Best for solo users
A free or paid personal vault plus PassTip for offline/WiFi/bulk edge cases is a strong combo.
Can you use both together?
Yes. Generate in PassTip (or the manager’s built-in generator), then store the secret in your vault. Use PassTip when you need WiFi QR cards, offline PWA generation, or quick bulk CSV — and keep the manager as the system of record for autofill and sync.
